Romblon is one of the hidden gems you would see in the Philippines. This place is not as popular as the other popular destination here in the Philippines but it is packed with a lot of beautiful views and scenery. And since it is not popular, the number of other tourists is low which means you could enjoy its beauty peacefully. In this Romblon travel guide, you would see the places you stay in, places where you could eat and things you could do. 

How to get to Romblon?

Before knowing how to go there, you must first know what region is Romblon. Romblon is located in the Mimaropa region. It is composed of 20 islands and the most popular are Romblon, Tablas Island and Sibuyan Island.

If you want to travel quickly, you could take a flight to Tablas. From there you could take a roro to the islands you would like to visit.

You could also take a roro directly from Manila or Batangas to Romblon. The travel time might take around 2 hours.

Where to stay in Romblon?

What to do in Romblon?

Relax

If you are tired and stressed with your work life, then this is the perfect place to unwind. And since there are only a few tourists, you can peacefully enjoy this place. There are a lot of beaches here in Romblon so you can just lay down on the sand and relax. If you are finding a place for a vacation then go here in Romblon while it is still not crowded.

Water Activities

Romblon has a lot of beaches and other bodies of water, so it’s not surprising that there are a lot of water activities you could experience. There are a lot of diving sites you could try at Verde Island. You could also try to cliff dive at Carabao Island. You could also swim and enjoy the cool and clear waters of Lambingan Falls, Agbaliga Waterfalls and Kipot River. 

Sight-Seeing

Romblon is full of wonderful views to offer you. You could start at Fuerza San Andres where you would see a bit of history and an overview of the town. You could also take unlimited pictures at the white sandbar of Bonbon Beach. Other beaches are very instagrammable like Tiamban Beach, Talipasak Beach and Cresta de Gallo. And Apunan Lighthouse offers a great spot to watch the sunset.

Food Trip

Aside from trying the restaurant that you will see later, you should also try some of the local foods here in Romblon. 

  • Bukayo – It is a dessert where coconut strips are mixed with caramelized sugar
  • Sarsa – It is a dish that consists of small local river shrimps, grated coconut and chilies. It is mixed together into a paste and it is wrapped in coconut leaves
  • Inaslum – It is a vegetable soup that consists of spinach, okra, bottle gourd, and snake beans.
  • Gayabon – It is a dish where fresh taro leaves are cooked in coconut milk. (It is similar to Laing)
  • Taghilaw – It is a stew that consists of pork, liver and intestines cooked in vinegar.

Where to eat in Romblon?

Smohk

Smohk is located at Governor Fetalvero Avenue Barangay Capaclan, Romblon. If you are a meat lover then you would surely love this place. You should try their real American burger while drinking cold beer. Other dishes you could here are BBQ, pork chops and ribs.

Jd & G. Italian Food

If you are craving Italian food then go visit Jd & G. Italian food. The foods here are also homemade. And if you are a pizza lover then this place is perfect for you because they have the best pizza in Romblon. You should not also miss lasagna and ice cream.

Romblon Deli & Deli Island Treasures

They offer both local and international dishes. If you are looking for a place to eat breakfast then check this place out. You should try out their longganisa or their bacon and egg for breakfast. Other dishes you must try are lamb kebab, madras curry and tenderloin steak at an affordable price.

Yums Café Romblon

It is located at Provincial Road, Sitio Guipoan Barangay Sawang. If you are conscious of what you eat then this place for you. They offer a variety of organic, fresh and healthy dishes. You should try their tacos. They also offer different kinds of alcoholic beverages.
